Revd Abby introduces a new sermon series, looking at the gifts of the Spirit. Who is the Holy Spirit? Why do we need him? And why does he give us spiritual gifts like healing and prophesy? What is the Holy Spirit telling us about the gifts he is giving us?

Ron Ruddock looks at the "power gifts" - how does Jesus use healing and other miracles to give his people glimpses of his kingdom? And how can we do the same?

As we celebrate and remember the day that the Holy Spirit fell on God's church and set a movement of Jesus going that has lasted 2000 years, Revd Mary thinks about what that means for us as Christians today. 

 

 

17th May 2026: Gifts of the Spirit 4: The Speaking Gifts

Revd Mary looks at the speaking gifts of prophecy, tongues, and interpretation of tongues and asks how we should be using them to edify, comfort, encourage and nudge the church.

John 16:5-16             

 

Revd Abby ends the series on the gifts of the Spirit by considering what the Spirit can and does do in us to make sure that our character is good and that we are building our lives on solid foundations.
