Summer 2026: Great Adventures

The bible has some amazing adventure stories in it. What can we learn about living a life of faith from some of those stories?

26th July 2026: Great Adventures - Abraham

Genesis 12: 1-9

Revd Abby starts our All Age summer series by looking at the adventure that God sent Abraham on to "Go!". All the things that God told him to do seemed totally impossible and yet Abraham had the faith to obey. What can we learn from his story today?

2nd August 2026: Great Adventures - Moses

Exodus 14: 5-29

Rosie Lee looks at the story of Moses leading God's people out of Egypt and to the edge of the Red Sea. As all seemed hopeless, how did God provide for them and what does that tell us about how we can trust him in similar storms in our lives?

16th August 2026: Great Adventures - Jonah

Jonah 1, 2 and 3

Jonah was sent on a great adventure to preach repentance to Nineveh but he didn't want to go! Sharon Rodman thinks about what this story teaches us about God's faithfulness and trustworthiness, even in the middle of storms, detours and discomfort.

9th August 2026: Great Adventures - David and Goliath

1 Samuel 17: 32-45

Revd Mary thinks about all the things that make us fearful and how that can stop us doing what God is calling us to do. What can we learn from David's willingness to step out in faith and face Goliath, knowing that God is faithful and could be trusted?

23rd August 2026: Great Adventures - Walking on water

Matthew 14: 22-33

Revd Mary asks what the story of Peter walking to Jesus on the water (and the mistakes he made while he tried) can tell us about trusting Jesus, his timing and the safety we can find by fixing our eyes on him. What can we learn about trusting him in our own storms?

30th August 2026: Great Adventures - Jail and Earthquake

Acts 16: 16-34

Revd Abby looks at the story of Paul and Silas ending up in jail in Philippi, when a great earthquake hit. How did their choice to worship and praise in the midst of real hardship shine the love of Jesus out to those around them? And how can we learn from their example?
